John Celona
John Celona is an internationally award-winning composer and artist from San Francisco. His 22-minute film, “The Strange Case of DJ Cosmic,” is the first in a series of three films, shot in HD, which include a tribute to Charles Bukowski entitled “Night Freight.”
In 2001, he directed and conducted Schoenberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire”, an expressionist ‘cabaret noir’ journey in English, German, and French. In the same year, he founded the avant-garde jazz sextet “John Celona’s BlueCity”, in which he directs, composes, and plays piano. Samples of his audio works can be heard on Lawrence Russell's Culture Court. John is presently pursuing research in broadband content and creating new media works with film, processed video, text, and surround sound. He lives in Victoria, B.C.
